17 Year Old Raises $700 For Alzheimer's Project

On October 11, 2012 or 10-11-12 a remarkable thing happened in our community. A bright young man named Dakota Deyent, a young man with a clear vision conceived of and created a new non-profit agency now known as The Giving Alphabet. The Giving Alphabet is registered as a new Domestic Non-Profit Corporation located in Tallahassee, FL and although they are new, they have already made a strident step to reach out and give back to the community.

Conceptually, The Giving Alphabet (TGA) works to raise funds for other non-profit agencies in the community. In general, the strategy behind TGA is to select an agency that begins with a letter of the alphabet (A-Z) and then to sponsor a fundraiser in an effort to raise funds that will then be donated to the selected agency in an effort to help them fund their programs. On December 12, 2012 or 12-12-12, TGA held their first fundraising event; an Art Auction at ALoft Hotel in Tallahassee, FL to raise money for Alzheimer's Project, Inc. and by all accounts, it was a huge success. On Thursday January 24, 2013 TGA made their official presentation to the staff of Alzheimer's Project, Inc. and presented the agency with a check in the amount of $700 to be used as needed for program support and social services.

We are proud of Dakota Deyent  Dakota is an amazing young man who at the age of 17 has already made a significant difference in the lives of the people he has touched. This young man has a heart for the community and works diligently to insure that he sets an example for others to follow. The power of one is alive and well in our own city and we could not be prouder. Many thanks to Dakota, his mom, grandma and great grandma for all they are doing for the citizens of our community. We look forward to what you will do next.
