Upcoming Dealing with Dementia Workshop on January 7th
We’re excited to be offering a new opportunity for local families to learn about dementia. Join us at Westminster Oaks on January 7th from 9am-1pm for a Dealing with Dementia workshop. Come learn about dementia, managing problem behaviors, handling stress, and finding time for yourself. To reserve your spot, contact Stephanie Pollack at email@example.com or (850) 386-2778. This four-hour workshop includes a guidebook that caregivers take home to use.
The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving created Dealing with Dementia and trained our staff to lead the workshop. In addition, FSU College of Medicine gave us a grant to provide the guides at no cost to participants. Read more below to learn about the workshop:
“The four-hour workshop introduces caregivers to each section of the guide providing basic information on dementia, insights into the caregiving journey, how to develop a dementia-friendly environment, dementia behavior management, caregiver self-care, and selecting the best services and resources. The workshop highlights safety, problem-solving, communication, and stress management. Caregivers have shown an increase in knowledge of dementia and an increase in their confidence to manage dementia behaviors acquired during their attendance at the workshop.”https://www.rosalynncarter.org/programs/dealing-with-dementia/
We also offer Powerful Tools for Caregivers which is a six-week course for caregivers. By attending both of these classes, caregivers certainly feel more prepared to care for their loved ones.
Above all, please call us at (850) 386-2778 if you need support. Our staff are available to speak with you and, as a result, offer services based on your individual needs.
